The New Kid in Town...

My old blog, Nic's Life, has been abandoned for some time now. I have wanted to go back and update it with everything we have been doing since my last entry on December 20, 2008 but I just can't bring myself to do it. Its a daunting task and, unfortunately, have lost myself in the world of updating Facebook and Myspace. Well, for now I am over the social networking sites and have discovered all of this free time to update the blog! In case you have been living in a cave somewhere, we have welcomed a new addition to our family.

On July 22, 2009(exactly 2/12 years to the day Nic was born) we welcomed Matthew Brady Miller into the world. Here he is at almost 3 months old.

I guess its no longer just Nic's Life anymore, right? :) Nic has definitely had to go through an adjustment period. He went from being the center of attention, mommy jumps when he says jump, to "Hold on buddy, after I feed the baby." or "Hold on buddy, let me just change Matthew's diaper." or "Hold on buddy, mommy needs a moment!", he has been really great. Of course, he has his moments where he needs to act out a bit, but for the most part, he loves his little brother and does just want to be a good boy for us. We are so lucky to have had him first. He's the perfect big brother :)

Looking back at the old blog, I can't believe how much Nic has grown since last December. He still looks like a little baby in that last post. Now, he is such a little boy. Two years old has been really fun. Its not without its taxing moments, but the things that come out of his mouth keep us laughing so that more than makes up for the VERY 2 year old "moments" we have encountered. His big thing to say now is, "No, momma, I do it my byself!" Actually, today, I have been "mommy" all day. That hurt a bit. I felt like over night Nic went from a 2 1/2 year old to a 6 year old. Mommy? I'm not ready for that. He's very stubborn. I have no idea where he gets that ;) Nic is a car freak. I mean, really, just so into cars it shocks me sometimes. He even goes as far as to get out grampy Fred's hot rod magazines and look at the pictures over and over again. I don't know many 2 year olds who read hot rod mags, but Nic seems to really enjoy them! He is just such a smart, quick whitted little guy, I think Kurt and I are in trouble. He has a knack for figuring out all things mechanical(he gets that from Kurt) yet still LOVES to sing and dance around the room. He's quite the performer. I'm curious to see what way he goes once he's older. Everyday he amazes me with new things he's learning, new things he's doing and of course a new way of testing us :) He IS 2!

Now, there is Matthew Brady. He is just a few days shy of 3 months old and I can really see his personality shining through. He has had a rough time so far. He has been suffering with some pretty nasty acid reflux, but is now properly medicated. Woo-Hoo! So, he isn't quite as uncomfortable and hard to handle as he once was. For the first couple of months he did a whole lot of screaming. It was not fun. Nic was always very reserved, but Matthew is a chatterbox! Don't get me wrong, Nic was a very happy little guy, but Matthew is always cooing or smiling or squealing or screaming! Matthew is the kind of baby that will just smile and coo at everything and everyone in the room. He's a real sweetheart :) I'm so excited to see his personality grow.
